Q:  Does it matter what kind of wax my Esthetician uses?

A: Yes, these days wax technology has gotten very advanced. This also means that the best waxes are also on the pricey side. I’ve heard many horror stories where my clients try to save money by going to cheap nail salons and they all come running back. Why? Because they use cheap wax. Cheap wax is more likely to pull skin, hence causing more pain. Also, a lot of the time, the people performing these Brazilians are not formally trained on how to give a proper brazilian and they can cause bruising, pulled skin, and ingrown hairs.

Q: Could my Esthetician be causing me to have ingrown hairs?

A: This is a tricky question, but the answer would be both “yes” and “no”. Some people are just prone to ingrowns and no matter what they do, they will still get them. These people tend to have thick, curly, and dense hair. BUT, it is also possible for an Esthetician to cause ingrown hairs by improperly removing the hair. If you were someone who never got ingrowns from waxing and all of the sudden you started getting them, you may want to check in with your Esthetician to make sure she is paying attention to what she is doing.

Q: Is it realistic to expect ALL of the hair be removed?

A: No, Estheticians are human too. We don’t have super-sonic eyesight, so sometimes we may miss a hair here and there. I am super anal about left over hair, but sometimes I may miss a few. If there happens to be a noticeable patch of hair that was missed, make sure you let your Esthetician know for the next time. Also, please do not expect us to tweeze every single hair that is left over. Once again, we are human and we need to save our backs so that we can continue doing our trade.
